Hawker - art from a small outback town

Leaving Flinders Range National Park, we pulled over at Hawker for breakfast; a small town 55km south of Wilpena Pound.

A scenic view at the town's main junction.

It is a pleasant town with some interesting stone sculptures.

This sign caught my attention and ventured to check it out.

It is just across the general store where we had coffee earlier.

My first impression of it was a souvenir store.

Soon I realized this is operated by an accomplished resident artist, Jeff Morgan.

His specialty is panoramic paintings. A 360 degree view of the Wilpena Pound is exhibited within this circular wall.

Do visit his web site at:
http://www.jeffmorgangallery.com.au/
to see better pictures of his paintings.

A peek into an adjacent building with his next piece of work in progress.

Turned my head around and saw Jeff in discussion with workmen laying out new pavement outside.

Guessed he didn't realized being subject of my photo shot.
If you happen to be in Hawker, do visit his gallery.

Love reading your travel blog.
Wish I was there too.
Anyway, you commented that you are not an early riser but for myself to get the greatest appreciation from any new destination must come from first light.....as the sun's rays bounce off the high clouds to give you a glimpse of what is in store for you for the rest of the day.
And as you take in the freshness of the cool morning air , you feel your senses tingling in excitement as you thank your creator for the opportunity!
Happy trails , Charles !
